Find Your Voice

voiceFind your voice. It's there. It's always been there.

Over days and months and years, we tend to get distracted and set our voice down. In a hurry most end up picking up the wrong one and carrying on through life.

You will know when you find it. It's unmistakeable.

Of late I have been fortunate enough to listen to an entirely authentic voice coming of age. Our little girl is just over four months old and for the past few weeks, she has found hers. At first the shrieks that echoed throughout the house sent everyone running to see what was wrong with her. Nothing wrong, we soon discovered. On the contrary, all seemed right.

This tiny little person had discovered that she had a voice she could use at will and on purpose.

  • A voice to trumpet to the world her joy and excitement looking up at the mobile suspended over her crib.
  • A voice of glee, triumphant at the accomplishment of rolling over.
  • A voice of urgency, connected to her stomach and sounding the alarms of hunger.
  • A voice oblivious to the concerns and opinions and encroachment of the world around us.
  • A voice of belief.
  • A voice of authenticity.
  • A voice that simply, plainly, without boast or presumption of importance says, "This is who I am."

If you have misplaced your voice along the journey of life, take the time to find it. You will know when you do. It will sound crisp and clear. Loud and familiar. Stating exactly what it wants with complete and total disregard for what the world thinks.

I hope you find it soon. My little girl needs more people to talk to.

Have an excellent day.
