What else can I add to my morning smoothie?

Q: Every morning I prepare a morning smoothie with orange juice, probiotic, banana, brown flax seed, psyillium fiber, Nu Greens Profile, Silicea, and omega-3 fish oil. Should I be adding anything else? –Susan

A: That’s a fantastic, fiber-rich way to start your day. Silica is wonderful for supporting and building connective tissue and the green powder provides nutrients and antioxidants sometimes difficult to get from food. Unless your orange juice is fresh-pressed, a suggestion would be to use an antioxidant-rich juice like pomegranate or a pure berry-blend. If this drink is in lieu of breakfast, it’s also a good idea to add a scoop of protein powder. Hemp or whey proteins are excellent choices. For variety, occasionally substitute other fiber supplements (like chia), vitamin C powder, or liquid calcium and magnesium.
