Only a few months ago, Mountain Rose Herbs won the 2010 Oregon Ethics in Business Award. This award honors a company’s dedication to workplace practices, environment commitment and product integrity. So when they asked us to try out some of their products, we jumped at the chance to see what this award-winning company was actually producing.

Since 1987, the goal of Mountain Rose Herbs has been an uncompromising commitment to organic agriculture. Ethical, responsible, clean and ecological are the worlds they use to describe their products and practices. While being busy in the community helping non-profit organizations, environmental groups and advocating for endangered botanicals, they somehow
manage to create wonderful teas, essential oils, bath and body products, pet products, seeds, natural health supplements, candles and gifts.

Mountain Rose Herbs is the premier provider of competitively priced, sustainably-harvested organic herbal products. They also continue to be a leader in sustainable business. When Mountain Rose Herbs adopted a "Zero Waste" policy, they went from producing about 3,300 gallons of waste per month (a normal amount for a processor) to producing between 80 to 100
gallons per month - the same as a typical four-person household. All invoices, flyers, brochures, and other paper materials are printed on 100-percent post consumer materials and all facilities are powered by renewable energy.

Products We Tried

Orange, Chamomile Skin Cream

Since we are always in the market for a new face cream, we were excited to try this one specifically. It had a light citrus smell that was a perfect pick me up for the mornings. The creamy texture absorbed quickly and we felt moisturized all day. No need to reapply. Olive oil, grape seed oil and Aloe Vera gel are just some of the ingredients you can find in this product.

French Green Clay Facial Scrub

This scrub is unlike any other we’ve tried. It’s soft, gentle and smells good enough to eat. This scrub is made for all skin types and designed for removing impurities, dirt and excess oil. You can also use it as a facial mask. After each time one of our team members used it, her face felt wonderfully smooth, clean and smelled lovely. This is by far one of our new favorite products.

Rose Hydrosol

Made from steam-distilling plant materials, hydrosols are similar to essential oils but not as concentrated. They make a fantastic skin toner for all skins types or a body spray, deodorant or room spray - a multi use product that smells great and would make a superb gift.
