Bigelow Tea

Who knew that when tea aficionado Ruth Campbell Bigelow decided to experiment in her kitchen, creating a flavorful tea concoction blended with orange peel and spices, she would be ushering in the dawn of a family business. Six decades later, the Fairfield, Connecticut -based Bigelow Tea is now a household name, producing more than 100 varieties of teas – nationwide. And incidentally, that original 1945 recipe - Constant Comment® (so-named because of all the comments it generated) –is Bigelow Tea’s signature specialty tea!
For Bigelow Tea, 2010 marks an exciting milestone as the family owned and operated company is celebrating its 65th Anniversary.
Lovingly tended by generations of Bigelows, the company is dedicated to producing only the finest tasting teas, handpicked from mountain grown gardens. Good flavor and product freshness are the key components of Bigelow teas, all of which are individually wrapped in airtight packages which protect the teabag, leaving the flavor intact.
Representing the third generation of Bigelow leaders, company president Cindi Bigelow preaches and practices “Sustainabili-TEA” – in tea production, with people, through environmental initiatives and efforts to preserve the planet. Her unwavering belief is that the small things, over time, add up. As such, the Bigelow family – along with the entire staff of Bigelow Tea – considers it an honor and a privilege to be able to give back to their community. Each year, they organize and host the highly successful Bigelow Tea Community Challenge. This annual fundraising event raises money for local charities and fosters an extraordinary level of commitment from participants, volunteers and organizers alike.
Bigelow Tea has forged strong relationships with their customers and their employees, all of whom have played a pivotal role in the company’s success. Expanding its presence in the cyber community, Bigelow Tea has a strong social media presence and places great value in reaching out to their online communities in Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
Ruth Campbell Bigelow loved tea. Unbeknownst to her, she created an American entrepreneurial success story – based on family, integrity, quality and, of course, tea!
