Diabetes Inspiration and Self-care

(New York, NY - September 30, 2011) With autumn's mosaic from Mother Nature as the backdrop, an assortment of inspiration and self-care outreach so colorful, so bountiful, one can only describe the coming 31 days as a Divabetic Octoberfest. This month, one of the nation's leading health and wellness nonprofits for women affected by diabetes, hits the roads, the airwaves and the information superhighways to spread its fall harvest.
On the road this month, Divabetic launches their Diabetes Golden Rules by the Golden Girls tour, making its first stop on Saturday, October 1, in Tampa, FL, at the Taking Control of Your Diabetes conference. The tour continues on Saturday, October 15, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Joining this leg of the tour are special guests Catherine Schuller, celebrity style and image expert; and author/entrepreneur Connie Elder, founder of Lipo in a Box Women's Shapewear and Underology Anti-Aging Skincare. The tour, hosted by Max "Mr. Divabetic" Szadek, Divabetic founder and executive director, features traditional diabetes education presented with a non-traditional approach and an attitude reminiscent of the popular Golden Girls' characters: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia. "We encourage women to adopt the bold, sassy personae of a diva to manage their diabetes self-care and what better diva mentors than the Golden Girls," says Szadek.
On the air with Diva TalkRadio, is Diabetes Spotlight featuring Birgitta Rice, MS, RPh, CHES, owner of Health Education for Life and creator of the Warm Feet Kit relaxation technique, live on Tuesday, October 4 at 6 p.m. ET. Next, on Tuesday, October 11 at 6 p.m. ET, Diabetes Roundtable pays tribute to a type 2 diva, the late, great, Ella Fitzgerald, aka the First Lady of Song and Lady Ella. Mr. Divabetic presides over a festival of real diabetes talk and self-care inspiration featuring a panel of certified diabetes educators in a discussion on drinking and diabetes, a menu review of Starbucks and a Food Aisle Face-off between salad dressings. Plus, New York City celebrity makeup artist Yago Monique visits for Makeover in a Minute, Mama Rose Marie unveils her latest self-care commentary and real diva Bettye W. of Willoughby, OH, plays Divabetic Diabetes Numerology. Throughout the month on Studio d, catch information shorts on favorite foods and celebrities.
