Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, for reflecting on the pleasures and blessings in our lives. A tradition in many homes is for each guest to share what he or she is thankful for before diving into the meal. This has more benefits than one might realize. The body must prepare to receive food. During the few moments taken to give thanks, breathing slows and the nervous system relaxes, stimulating the flow of digestive juices and enzymes. If you can’t think of anything to be thankful for, consider the effort – from farm to table - that went into preparing the feast before you. Express gratitude for the animals, the farmers, and all the workers who made it possible.
