Sometimes having an ultrasound done can be in the interest of mom and baby's health. Photo: abbybatchelder via Flickr.I had another ultrasound yesterday. Why? No reason. Just standard hospital procedure at 32 weeks. But I’m glad I went. They automatically scheduled me, and this wasn’t a battle I cared nearly enough to fight about. What’s more is that I wanted confirmation that I had, in fact, felt her migrate south. Very obedient; baby’s head is down.

That means no more Downward Dog for me! (Downward Dog is a yoga position you can try to turn a baby that has not yet done so on his own. It doesn’t always work, but is well worth a shot and is a lot less painful than EVC External Cephalic Version).

My obstetrician surely isn’t going to let me deliver a breech naturally. C-sections pretty much across the board here in Quebec. So stay put, little one!

Throughout this pregnancy, most of the time I haven’t felt that “deep connection” with the little bean inside of me. I was okay with that, because love takes time, right? Well, I can safely say that at 32 weeks pregnant, I am in love with that little bean. She has been moving more and more, which helps me feel connected. Now I even know why she moves and have a sense of which kind of movements mean what.

My anterior placenta no longer has control over my attachment to you, little girl! And on top of it, at the ultrasound, we got a really clear picture of what she looks like.

I felt like I met her yesterday. Or a skeletal version of her anyway. We watched her cover her cheek with her face, a little camera shy. She didn’t want us to see how beautiful she is.

We were told she has chubby cheeks and a full head of hair. I think she looks like Mike and he thinks she looks like me. Only time will tell.
