The nesting instinct kicks in when a woman is in her third trimester. Photo: AnnCam via Flickr. When I first became pregnant, I updated this blog most days. With just over a month to go, I certainly have even more legit things to write about than I did in week six, yet I just can’t find the time. I am counting down the days until this girl graces us with her presence, and I’m realizing how much we have left to do!

My nesting instinct has kicked in, and it’s actually kind of fun.

I spent a good portion of the day perfecting the lists of what I need to bring to the hospital for myself and the baby. I made a list for Mike too. We’re lucky that he’ll get to stay over.

I also made a list of the little extras we need like D-drops and bum cream. I’m having a hard time deciding what to use. Zincofax seems to be recommended by everyone, but it seems like Candula salve will do the job? What’s this about meconium sticking to everything?

Do I really need to bring make up and a hair dryer to the hospital? I seriously found these items on the “must have” list provided to us by the CLSC. I’m not anti-make-up, but walking out of the hospital a day after giving birth fully done-up? Not on my list of priorities! (Though I appreciate it might make some women feel a little more… themselves.)

Most of what needs to be done is done, and anything else is just icing on the cake. I hope she stays in another good month (baby, you will never be more comfortable or safe!) but if she were to arrive tonight, there would be very little panicking.
I think tomorrow we will buy a deep freezer. I have fantasies of cooking big meals from now until I give birth and storing them in perfect rows so there’s that much less to worry about when she’s here. A freezer could come in handy for storing breastmilk too.

We have been trying to organize this house for a year, and it’s amazing how it’s all sort of come together a few weeks before the baby arrives. She has motivated us to get our act together!

We’re ready for you little one!
