Q: After having eaten an apple, how long should I wait until I can eat my salad or my soup? It seems to impact my digestion if they are eaten one directly after the other.
A: Most fruit digests in approximately thirty minutes, so wait at least that long before eating anything else. The ‘rules’ of good food combining recommend that fruit is eaten alone because it digests so quickly compared with other foods. If fruit is in the stomach with other types of food that take longer to digest, symptoms such as bloating, gas, or other can occur.
