Here at Naturally Savvy, Randy and I love discovering new food and drinks, which, of course, have to be healthy and eco-friendly, too. We were thrilled to discover Teeccino Caffé® herbal coffee. Teeccino is a delicious blend of grains, nuts, figs, dates, carob and natural flavors that brew exactly like coffee but without any caffeine.

The flavor and texture of Teeccino is deliberately similar to coffee. It has a rich, roasted taste and aroma and this innovative, caffeine-free beverage is made from all natural and organic ingredients that are nutritious and sugar-free, too. So it isn’t really surprising that Teeccino is the number one best-selling coffee alternative in America!

Teeccino comes in 11oz bags or in trial-sized packettes. The bags cost around $8.99 each and are well worth checking out. You can buy them online at www.Teeccino.com or at any natural food stores and many specialty food stores.

As an alternative for people who can’t tolerate caffeine or need to limit their coffee drinking to just the morning, Teeccino is just the ticket. Pregnant women love Teeccino because it allows them to keep their brewing “ritual” without any caffeine. Teeccino is non-acidic and is perfect for people with digestive health issues such as GERD and IBS. It is also heart-healthy because it is full of potassium.Teeccino is also gluten-free when brewed.

There are ten flavors to choose from. Seven flavors – Hazelnut, Java, Original, Vanilla Nut, Chocolate Mint, Mocha and Almond Amaretto make up the Mediterranean line which is slightly sweet and nutty from dates, figs and almonds. The Maya line consists of Caffé, Chocolaté and Chai, dark-roasted flavors for people who don’t like their coffee sweet.

Teeccino was founded in 1994 in Santa Barbara, California by Caroline MacDougall a well-known and respected herbal tea designer. Caroline has worked with many top tea companies including Celestial Seasonings, Republic of Tea and Organic India.

As a caffeine sensitive person, Caroline knew a gap existed in the market. Nowhere in the tea world was there a caffeine-free match for robust, roasted coffee.

In 2006, Caroline launched a new line of herbal coffees for Teeccino. The Maya line of herbal coffees is certified organic and includes the novel ingredient, ramon nuts, a traditional food of the Maya civilization, wild-harvested in the Maya Biosphere Reserve in Guatemala. The company works in developing countries such as Guatemala and India to create new trade that brings more economic opportunity to people living in rural villages with limited sources of income and Teeccino is dedicated to supporting rainforest preservation in Central America.

One percent of sales from the Maya flavors are donated to conduct workshops educating women in Guatemala about the nutritional value of Ramon nuts for their families. In 2008, Teeccino contributed one percent of sales to Vitamin Angels to support nutritional programs in Maya villages in Belize.
