Jealousy: A Thing of the Past

Do any of the following apply to you?

  • Your neighbor just bought a fancy new car but you're still driving the same car you've had for the past 10 years.
  • Your colleague is going on a two-week vacation but you haven't been able to afford a decent getaway for at least 4 years.
  • Your best friend is a successful businessman, but you can't seem to catch a break.

No matter how happy we may be for other people, it's still hard not to keep that little feeling of jealousy or envy at bay.

So how do you cope with jealousy and envy?

Whenever my clients or I am confronted with such a situation, I always recommend the following:

In your mind, say this: "Good for you and good for me, too. Good for you that you're doing so well. I'm thankful that my good fortune is already on its way so I too can enjoy many joyful moments just like you."

Eventually, as you learn to say it often and at just the right times, you will genuinely begin to believe it in your heart. Then, because your negative emotions are no longer there (or are minimized), you will begin to attract joy, good fortune and/or whatever else you are trying to bring into your life.
