Summer Time & Eating Healthy Organic Food Natural Nutrition Healthy BBQ

The sun is shining bright, the pool looks clear and refreshing and a cold beer seems like a good idea. You may also be attending lots of BBQ get-togethers and social events that serve high-fat, hard to resist foods.

This summer, aim to have a balance between those indulgences and healthy eating. A good rule of thumb is aim to eat healthy 80% of the time and for the other 20%, go on and eat that burger and fries.

A good way to start is keep your kitchen stocked with fruits and vegetables. Organic blueberries and strawberries can make a great snack, or whip up a green smoothie to keep your energy level high when out and about. As well, consider the following recipes from our Savvy Chefs to keep you on track with your healthy summer eating.

Do you love the sweet taste of cherries?Make Cherry & Almond Ricotta. This yummy snack makes a great brunch dish or quick snack. It combines healthy cherries with filling protein from the ricotta and contains heart-healthy fats found in almonds.
