As I sit here at the beginning of winter looking out on to a gray sky and teaming rain, I am wondering if it is an oxymoron of sorts that I am thinking that a rainy day in December is the silver lining of a cloud. After all it could be worse, it could be snow! It seems to be such an interesting time, the end of 2011, even in terms of weather. A lot of people I’ve spoken with of late have been expressing a trying phase as the year comes to a close and many are being tested to an inch of their sanity.
Certainly we are all aware of the “shift” coming in 2012, we have been hearing all about it for a long time now. It’s true that in many ways we are entering a new phase, beyond the calendar change into a new year. In an astrological sense we are moving from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius, which since this kind of thing only happens every 2000 years or so is certainly a consideration.
It’s true I have seen a lot of people struggling this past fall and even now there seems to be a push of some kind happening, an energetic momentum if you will that seems to be forcing people to face their issues as the year draws to an end. As I witness this intense time for people and see how their emotions are really being tested I cannot help reflect upon identifying some sort of reasoning behind it all and questioning whether or not this is actually a more potent time than other years?
My sense as I reflect is that we are all being asked to really examine what it is we truly want our lives to be. Have we on subconscious levels asked for this? Have we asked for change not really grasping that more often than not chaos is a precursor for change? I see this happen quite a lot in my work actually. Often I remind people that when they are asking the universe for something be sure to ask for it with ease and gentleness. We seem to forget that part and often are struck by the harshness that comes in to precipitate change.
My personal feeling about this time (and yes I too have felt the blows) is that we have a choice either to move forward into the new age having embraced our “stuff” and having actively begun to work on the things that need working on, or we can choose to ignore them and then will have to carry them with us in the same way into a new age. My personal sense is that there is a great wave of energy out there and it has been building momentum and force for the last few years. We are almost at that place where the crest of the wave begins to crash and push itself toward the shore with more speed and purpose.
If we choose to change patterns that no longer serve us, embrace our personal responsibility in things, and ride this wave with a sense of love (especially self love) versus a sense of fear, then we cannot help but find ourselves on the shores of the new age in a wonderful position of potential. A position of personal strength and an open heart a new foundation to move forward from. If we can do this by the New Year then I feel we will be giving ourselves the best gift we could ever receive. That’s what I want for myself this Holiday Season.
Blessings to you all, have a safe and happy season. As a little parting gift for the year I am attaching a link to a performance of a great song by a good friend. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
