If you are like me and you think what this indicates then you have an idea of my concerns. If you aren't like me here are a few of my concerns -
First of all I have to ask just why is a *kid* getting UC. Then I ask, why do you need to select a drug that is genetically engineered and one that costs up to $25,000 a year and is administered by IV (intravenous).
Next think about the risks of the drug -
-
serious and sometimes fatal blood disorders - serious infections
- lymphoma and solid tissue cancers
- reports of serious liver injury
- reactivation of hepatitis B
- reactivation of tuberculosis
- lethal hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (Generally only when combined with 6-mercaptopurine)
- drug-induced lupus
- demyelinating central nervous system disorders
