Q: What is the difference between ground flax seed and ground chia seed? Can I consume then both at the same time? -Cindy
A: Aside from a different ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 and some different forms of fiber (every plant contains a variety of fibers), they are not all that different and their nutritional benefits are quite similar. Flax seed has more soluble fiber; chia has more insoluble fiber. We need both, so it's fine to mix them - I do it all the time. They are both gentle fibers.
