A: Common food culprits known to aggravate acne include fried foods, chocolate, sugar, and excessive salt (the iodine in salty foods and seafoods can cause or worsen acne). Each person may be prone to developing acne from foods that are not on that list, however. If you suspect that something in your diet is problematic, record what you eat in a food journal for several weeks. Eventually you will be able to identify the offending food(s).
