It seems that simple common sense is still evading North America’s sexually active population. Apparently we think the rules don't apply to us as condom use is remarkably low. Now, good old Merck has come out with a vaccine called Guardisol in order to prevent HPV in girls. HPV is known to be a precursor to cervical cancer.
Without full understanding of potential side-effects, North American girls as young as nine are being led to believe that they require a vaccination and in some US states vaccination is now mandatory.
Considering that HPV can be avoided with condom use not to mention that condoms protect women from other sexually transmitted diseases, one has to look at the motivation of this vaccine push. Perhaps it has to do with the $360.00 price tag for the three doses of vaccine. Some have eluded to the Merck's devastating losses with their other drug Vioxx as the motivation of
this vaccine "push".
Side effects of the HPV vaccine Guardisol include but are not limited to: high fever, symptoms of allergic reactions including difficulty breathing and skin rashes, headaches, gastroenteritis usually involving vomiting or diarrhoea, appendicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), and asthma or
bronchospasms.
