More and more though teleseminars or “summits” are becoming popular and the next one that I’m participating in has a great name, “Inner Soul Safaris” (iSS). Isn’t our inner journey just as much a “trip” as hauling the family to Graceland? You can watch for details in my newsletter or on Facebook but the reason I bring this up here is to introduce the notion that I will be sharing, that in times of change, we can use our dreams as our inner global positioning system or GPS. (I love the little “i” that Apple has made so popular, don’t you?)

We are indeed facing a changing world and we truly want to know what happens next in our lives, don’t we? So many of us are facing the loss of jobs, relocations, illnesses; the list of change and challenge is endless. I wonder and wouldn’t be surprised to learn that business might be up for psychics, card readers and crystal ball mavens everywhere. We simply want to know if we will be all right when facing the unknown. We look at our horoscope in the daily paper, even when nine times out of ten, they are not precise enough to make sense for our lives. We look for signs everywhere, picking up lucky pennies much the same as ancient man did, in order to live life in alignment with the gods and increase the odds of living past 45!

Here’s a dream example of using your dreams for the guidance you seek. The dreamer had been wondering if her career’s direction needed tweeking. She dreamt the following,

“Rearranging the Furniture”
(Notice that it’s a great idea to give your name a title.)

I was working in an office, not really sure of my job but it seems to be a non-profit organization. There was an older man there who was a donor. He wanted me to rearrange some plants, then the furniture. Since he was a donor I thought I should keep him happy, and the fact was, the office didn't look very nice, mis-matched, 2nd hand furniture. So we start moving things around, and putting things away in a closet, including an iron and ironing board. Another woman comes to deliver the mail to the office. She says I can easily get this man to practically work for me and do the work of rearranging. I think I say I'll put him to work tomorrow.

In this short little dream, the dreamer was given a lot of guidance and information. When looking at the possible meaning of any dream, it’s always good to do a “reality check” in case the dream has some precognitive hints to offer. It might have been saying that the dreamer may find future work in the non-profit sector. In this case, however, it was more about the dreamer working and not making a profit that, for her, meant that she did not feel that she was receiving anything in return for all her work. The dream, most simply, told the dreamer that she’s doing everyone else’s bidding, not reaping the rewards and it’s time to rearrange things. She tries to smooth everything out with the ironing board. Her Dream Maker is helping her rearrange her work life and tells her that she can get help and doesn’t have to do it all! Notice how she wasn’t quite ready to change as she dreamt of making the changes “tomorrow.”

There was more that the dreamer gleaned from her dream and I’m sure you would see other meanings in the dream, depending on your own associations to the details of the dream and the circumstances of your own life. What this illustrates, however, is that we can and do get nightly guidance from our dreams. In times of change, look inward to your dreams for all the self-knowledge and guidance you will need in challenging times.
