Vaccines: yes or no? What do you think? 1 Year, 3 Months ago

Share your experiences, opinions, and thoughts here. The choice to vaccinate or not can be a challenging one. It doesn't help that there are conflicting messages all around us. What really is best? What do you think?

Vaccines should be taken in moderation is my opinion. Too much of a good thing can turn bad. I don't know whether vaccines are bad for us or not, but I am going to research the topic and options available to me.

I think we should work on building our immune systems first and foremost and research closely any vaccine we offer our children. Some vaccines may be useful but from what i'm hearing in the news about a link between autism and vaccines. I am going to be careful, especially with so many autistic children these days. I wonder if there really is a correlation between the two? What do you think?

It's all peachy keen to talk about ditching vaccines, but you have to remember that at one time, the actual DISEASES caused far more problems! Kids died from things like whooping cough and measles. And what about polio?? If we quit vaccinating kids, are we willing to live with that possibility?
People today have no real memory of these horrible diseases. We need to remember how bad they really were before we abandon them entirely.
my 2 cents,
Jane

That may be true that children died from diseases like polio. The vaccines for these deadly diseases may well be very useful. But what about the numbers of vaccines offered to children these days. There seems to be many more vaccines today for diseases that don't seem that deadly.

That's true for some things, like chicken pox. Usually it isn't deadly, but for kids with weak immune systems (maybe from cancer treatments or immunodeficiency problems) it can be a problem.
The trouble comes in with trying to balance the public health interest vs. the individual's interest. They don't always match up.
For many of the old diseases, we don't really have an understanding of how serious they were. Do you know anyone who's had diptheria??? I know I don't.

I have read about an alternative to vaccines. They are called Homeopathic Nosodes. Now from what I understand they use only an energy imprint which like a vaccine stimulates the bodies natural tendency to ward off sickness. An energy imprint that is so minute the body won't actually be harmed from it's ingestion. These Homeopathic Nosodes are in my opinion much safer to use since they are taken orally thus entering the body much like an actual virus might and don't actually contain any of the virus itself just an imprint of the virus.

Hello everyone!
I find it interesting that mercury is classified as a known poison and has been found in so many vaccines. It is also interesting to note that the number of cases of autism have reached record highs much like the amount of vaccines adminstered to children. There are thousands of legal cases being brought forth and won by parents of children who have taken their children for a vaccine and have had devastating results. I have heard something like two billion dollars have been paid to these families with tax payers money. Isn't it human nature to protect our young ones?

Vaccines are poisons. They are so far from what is natural I really have a hard time believing they can be of any use.

I realize we may or may not of had cases of diseases where people may have been seriously affected but this is still up for debate. I don't mean to discount stories of plagues or deaths due to sicknesses but i've also heard of stories of parents gathering children together, even having measles parties to ensure all the children got the disease and took the necessary steps to heal themselves afterward.
I have a hard time believing everything I hear and see since there are so many different opinions.

I really don't know what to say about the whole vaccine debate. It is truly scary to think that our children could get sick and die from a disease that we might have the ability to prevent. Especially when children are so small and vulnerable we as parents have the responsibility to protect them.

REALLY?? Measles parties??? I have never heard of that. My question is where do you get the measles to share at the party??? Does one parent bring a sick child?? I'm trying to keep an open mind here, but this sounds a little too outrageous to be true. Do you know of anyone who has actually done this?
My oldest son got the chicken pox vaccine, and his siblings got the actual disease. There are times I wish he'd had the disease instead of the vaccine, but even for chicken pox, I don't know if I could bring myself to consciously expose him to it.
Anyone else know anything about this??

Hi everyone!
I would really appreciate some information on the time frame a vaccine is active in the body. What I mean is how long is a vaccine able to ward off disease? Once a child is vaccinated does that guarantee they will not contract that virus for the rest of their lives? or does the vaccine only work for a specific peroid of time? If anyone has any information on this topic please let me know.

I have recently read articles reagarding the HPV vaccine. I found it interesting that accoring HPV facts and myths on Lifestyle Yahoo ... your body can often get rid of the HPV infection on its own. Does this mean we may not necessarily need this vaccine after all?

I don't know. I'm not sure exactly how HPV causes cancer. The mechanism may be different than for causing other diseases. Where did they get their facts?
