Eco-Friendly Fall Fashion

fall fashion eco fashion green shopping fall fashion trends eco fashion trendsI've said it before and I'll say it again.  What's amazing about "eco" designers is not only their dedication to sustainable living/designing and their tenacious pursuit of new technologies, textiles and resources – but also the fact that they are eco clothing designers! (No easy feat to execute well.)  I've been running Green With Glamour since 2006 and I can honestly say that every season gets more exciting, more gorgeous-looking and even more varied in design and availability.  This Fall is the best one yet.

Dresses are paramount for every Fall.  They're perfect transitional pieces;  early Fall with bare legs or thin tights and ballet flats and late Fall/Winter with leggings and tall boots.  And I'm not talking LBDs.  I'm talking about an interesting piece or two that really embodies what you want fashion-wise out of the season.  My top four are all richly-colored, flatteringly cut and day-to-night versatile because who are we kidding – these days we need to get the most bang for our buck!

The Icy Cozy dress by Popomomo is pretty much my personal favorite.  It's sexy, wearable and travels like a dream. (Think ahead for the holidays.)  The strong, but not over-the-top shoulders are elegant and edgy at the same time, the somewhat open back is sexy without being too revealing and the hem length is flattering on just about everyone.  With a reasonable price tag ($120) and a sustainable make up (hemp and organic cotton knit), this dress is a Fall Fashion slam dunk.

Though this isn't the first season we're seeing this style, the Deborah dress by Sublet is a modern classic.  And the currently offered color, Rose, is simply sublime!  This piece is high style with luxe craftsmanship  and uses salvaged silk.  You just can't beat it for work or play, day or night.

Lina Rinnell's work is fairly new to me, but I truly enjoy her simple silhouettes complimented by her quirky prints.  The modest, yet flirty, organic wool Triangle print dress looks as cozy as it does cute.  Pair it with some over-the-knee boots and a bright scarf... so chic.

And though I do appreciate convertible pieces that can be worn more than one way, I rarely actually like their style.  The Formal Wrap dress by Angel Rox is an exception.  But don't let the name deceive you; it's not only "formal".  I would absolutely pair this with ballerina flats and a boxy cardigan for day as easily as I would with heels and a blazer for night.

If dresses aren't your thing (or you're just in a shopping mood), I recommend going for some chic, statement pieces.  The Batwing top by Kelly B Couture is not only a stand out, but it's oh-so-flattering!  Great for any shape and it has a sexy little peek-a-boo back that will surely turn heads.

Perhaps you prefer solid colors to stripes?  The Arbus top by She Bible makes its statement in its style.  The asymmetrical hem sets a very artistic tone whether you belt it with a maxi skirt or wear it loose over leggings or skinny jeans.

For the adventurous types, a piece of Mociun will always work.  Edgy and bold, the Meteor skirt is reminiscent of Mod styling, but looks so very current. Wear it with a cami and heels for evening and boots and a tee for day.  It's a win-win.

If super-stylish "basics" are what you need, the Fiona skirt by Kelly B Couture is a three-season charmer.  Easy, breezy and flattering, this subtly feminine piece has little brass embellishments along the pockets for just a bit of added style.

A good pant is hard to find.  Really hard to find.  However, Nixxi has done it!  Straight, but not too skinny, you'll be able to wear the organic cotton Slim Fit pant in black for many seasons to come.

And to top it all off, with the weather cooling, you're going to need an extra layer.  For the perfect casual-without-being-sloppy piece, the Guinevere hoodie by Prairie Underground has enough structure and style to dress up even the most casual yoga pants or leggings.

My whites are packed away, my old Fall favorites have been put back on the shelves and now I'm ready to add some new style with any or all of the pieces above.  I'm honestly so excited about Fall's first look that I want the weather to change right now!
